We proudly offer prints from the encyclopedic work, Tableau Encyclopedique Et Methodique, Des Trois Regnes De La Nature (Encyclopedic and Methodic Table, Three Regnes of Nature), which spanned over 50 years and grew to 201 volumes. It was the undertaking of an enterprising young publisher Charles-Joseph Panckoucke (1736-98), and the volumes relating to crustaceans, shells, sea urchins, and a variety of sea creatures were published between 1791-1798. They were edited by Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Jean Guillaume Bruguiere. Lamarck, who was the scientist and naturalist behind this book of prints, was the first scientist to classify invertebrates (a word he coined) and is often considered the father of a modern biology (another word he coined).
