Casablanca Side Chair
Gabe and I stopped for a drink on a steamy, sultry night in Casablanca, pleasantly tired after a day of sightseeing. We found a tiny table tucked away in a dark corner, and the waiter brought us green tea with mint and a bowl of olives, which refreshed us immensely. So, too, did the chair. I was taken with the bamboo frame, caned back, and plush cushion. It was unassuming from a distance, but a few minutes on its perch convinced me to bring it back with us somehow.
The Casablanca Side Chair mirrors the elements that caught my eye, and we added a raw silk covering to the seat; the frame is also hand-carved from plantation-grown mahogany, not bamboo, and painted in black satin. Fair improvements, I’d say.
