My friend Fritz is an avowed bachelor, but he also has the good taste (and paycheck) of Tom Ford. Every time I visit his Manhattan apartment, I am wowed by some new addition. The last time it was a midcentury modern leather sofa in the living room. It sat on splayed wooden feet, and raw edges of the leather-lined every seam. Somehow it managed to come across as both refined and devil-may-care--which, come to think of it, is Fritz in a nutshell.
This sofa, named after him, has the same attitude, with dark brown leather stitched into tufted (but buttonless) cushions with raw edges. The seat cushions turn up at both ends to serve as arm pillows, an ingenious bit of flair. Imported.
