Medieval Gilded Top Vase
The art of gilding is applying a thin coat of gold over an object for decorative purposes. It was said that the Egyptians used this technique to cover wood and metals, Ancient Greeks used it for clothing on statues and Romans would gild the ceilings of their temples and palaces. It was also used in Medieval Times on many objects. This ceramic vase is reminiscent of the jugs used to carry water in Medieval Times.
With its rustic, naturally distressed base and beautifully gilded top, this fusion of European antique and art deco would complement any style of décor. Sitting solo, it is a stunning piece but paired together with its larger counterpart would make for a beautiful display.
