An acquaintance of mine, Aaron, is an antiques dealer, and he’s forever on the lookout for older, solid wood case goods with a weathered finish. “People can’t get enough of them,” he tells me. “The chippier the paint, the better.” Such is the demand that authentically old pieces are harder and harder to come by, which is why Aaron was so grateful that I told him about our Monet Hutch. Made of solid reclaimed pine, it is tall and statuesque, with two long cabinet doors on top and two squat ones at the bottom. (The top ones open to reveal two adjustable shelves.) The finish is heavily distressed with tones of hunter, safe, and teal rubbed through to the wood, giving the effect of an Impressionist painting. “It’s just the right amount of weathered,” Aaron told me. Dimensions: 48 x 16.5 x 93.5 in inches. Imported. Handling Fee is $125.
