Our little English cottage, which we called home for almost a week while traipsing through the countryside, was older, smallish, and utterly charming. It took a while for me to get used to it, but one element I appreciated multiple times each day was the upholstered chairs at the breakfast table. Padded on both the seat and back, armless (they took up less room that way), and with gorgeous turned legs and a supporting stretcher, they were both strong and lovely--no extra frills, but when something is well-made, who needs frills?
