St. Denis Counter Stool
We had just toured the Basilica of Saint-Denis and were still blown away by the Gothic architecture--all stained glass, pointed arches, and elaborate window tracery--when we happened into a little cafe for some refreshment. Clearly, its proprietress took her decorating cues from the nearby church, as the restaurant was festooned in similarly ornate detailing. I spied a few stools at the counter and drank them in: turned legs painted high-gloss black, nailhead trim, and a shape that mixed sharp angles with gorgeous curves. It’s all on display in the St. Denis Counter Stool, which is made of robust oak and upholstered in flax-hued linen. Dimensions: 17.5 x 17.5 x 24 in inches. Imported. Handling Fee is $20.
