The patisserie was just down the street from where we were staying, a street-level shop with heavenly-smelling pastries and coffee. We stopped in on our first morning in Avignon for breakfast, and we sat in the sweetest wooden chairs as we ate. With the feminine flourishes so typical of French furniture and caned seats, they were clearly older than we were, but they were solid and lovely.
I wanted to share them with everyone once I got home, so here I present the Ariane Chair (named after our hostess). Crafted of sturdy plantation-grown mahogany with a distressed white chalk finish, it’s shaped for stylish, comfortable seating for decades to come.
